
This 47-week individual placement supports the Special Use Permitting Program at the Willamette National Forest Supervisor's Office in Springfield, Oregon. The role involves learning federal land management procedures, managing hard copy and electronic records, processing permit proposals, and assisting with environmental reviews. Selected candidates will also conduct field inspections of permit areas and communicate with permittees. The position offers hands-on training in both office and field settings, providing exposure to federal land management within a diverse forest environment. The program is hosted by Northwest Youth Corps and Idaho Conservation Corps, emphasizing education and professional growth for young adults. The work arrangement is primarily in-person at the Springfield office with occasional travel to forest districts. Participants gain valuable experience in documentation, GIS software, and environmental compliance while contributing to the stewardship of over 1.6 million acres of public land.
