Surgical Technologists are an integral part of the allied health team at Albany Med Health System, working alongside registered nurses and surgeons to provide comprehensive surgical care. The Operating Room unit is dedicated to maintaining a safe environment where equipment functions properly and patient safety remains the top priority.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will facilitate surgical procedures by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment with precision. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and a surgeon, anticipating the needs of the surgical team to ensure the procedure flows smoothly. A key aspect of this role is maintaining constant vigil over the sterile field to prevent contamination.
This position offers the opportunity to function independently in the scrub role while also serving as a circulator under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. The role may involve on-call duties and rotating shifts to meet the needs of the department.
