About the Role
We are seeking a Senior UX Researcher / Designer to support our client in Brooklyn, NY. In this hybrid capacity, you will serve as a strategic partner dedicated to ensuring government services are driven by rigorous evidence, user research, analytics, and New Yorker-centered insights.
You will work in lockstep with product managers, digital strategists, designers, and analytics experts to execute end-to-end research for high-priority public services. Your mission is to define challenges, identify opportunities for evidence-based guided experiences, and synthesize qualitative data with behavioral data to provide a holistic view of the user experience. Beyond research execution, you will help mature internal user research toolkits, introducing new methodologies that broaden the team's ability to capture insights and strengthen a data-driven culture.

Requirements
- verified8 years of experience as a UX researcher, UX designer, service designer, product researcher, or similar role
- verified4+ years of experience leading generative research, including field studies and interviews
- verifiedProven expertise leading evaluative research, including usability testing and A/B testing
- verifiedAbility to wireframe user journeys based on research insights and requirements
- verifiedAbility to translate research hypotheses into actionable research plans using mixed methods and statistically sound analysis
- verifiedExperience recruiting users that align with required demographic and behavioral profiles
- verifiedExpertise in methodologies that prevent over-generalization
- verifiedExperience using strategy, user evidence, analytics, and competitive research to inform creative solutions and improve digital experiences
Nice to Have
Certification in evaluation practice (e.g., The Evaluators' Institute) or equivalent education in qualitative evaluation and research methodology. 10+ years of experience interpreting complex patterns across qualitative and quantitative data sets. Understanding of statistical principles to evaluate data. Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams of product, engineering, and data experts to deliver products and services on time. Experience facilitating group synthesis sessions with cross-disciplinary teams. Experience demonstrating diverse representation and accessibility in research practice and past projects.
