People Operations HR Generalist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly independent People Operations HR Generalist to provide temporary coverage for a People Operations Manager during a maternity leave. This part-time role is designed for a self-directed professional who thrives with limited day-to-day guidance. The position places a strong emphasis on payroll and benefits administration, requiring a high-trust approach and a "can-do" mindset to proactively identify solutions and make informed decisions.

Success in this role demands exceptional attention to detail and absolute precision with numbers. You will be expected to manage complex, deadline-driven processes with autonomy, ensuring accuracy in bi-weekly payroll runs, benefits billing, and compliance matters. The ideal candidate is resourceful, comfortable operating with minimal supervision, and eager to leverage AI tools to improve workflows and documentation.

Work Schedule & Model

The role is hybrid, requiring some onsite days (preferred) alongside remote flexibility. Hours fluctuate based on the payroll cycle: during bi-weekly payroll weeks, the workload may increase to approximately 30 hours, while lighter weeks average around 10 hours, resulting in an estimated average of 20 hours per week. The position is expected to begin in July with a gradual onboarding period.

Hiring Process

check_circleAdminister Minnesota Paid Family Leave and Disability self-billing processes
check_circleSupport team member benefits enrollments, changes, and life events
check_circleEnsure accurate new hire setup in Paylocity including compensation and benefit enrollments
check_circleDeliver new hire benefits onboarding sessions and flag start or termination dates
check_circleSupport the administration of leave programs including FMLA and LOA with strong documentation
check_circleManage salary team member unemployment claims including agency notices and hearing responses
