As a Pediatric Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of children within our Early Head Start and Head Start programs. This position requires a deep knowledge of and interest in child and family health care, encompassing prevention concepts, early intervention, and health maintenance practices. You will work collaboratively with center education staff, coordinators, physicians, and outside agencies to provide optimum health for the children in our care.
Your day will involve observing the health status of center children, administering medications, and conducting screenings such as vision, hearing, and blood pressure checks. You will link families to ongoing health care sources, monitor immunization certificates, and provide technical assistance to staff regarding child health issues. Additionally, you will perform home visits to families of infants, toddlers, and pregnant women, offering resources on child development and health education. A key part of your mission is modeling positive interactions to promote parent-child bonding and detecting signs of illness, injury, or abuse to ensure immediate reporting and intervention.
