The Emerging Store Manager is a pivotal leadership position designed to prepare high-potential talent for future Store Manager roles. This role serves as the primary partner to the Store Manager, supporting the overall operation of the Pharmacy and Retail Store to achieve company deliverables. You will assume full responsibility for all store activities in the Store Manager's absence, ensuring seamless continuity in operations, customer experience, and team leadership.
Your day is defined by a dynamic blend of strategic oversight and hands-on engagement. You will lead and manage the store team, overseeing recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline to ensure high engagement and productivity. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to the customer experience; you will model best practices, resolve complaints, and empower team members to exceed customer expectations.
Operationally, you will supervise the front end and pharmacy, managing inventory trends, cash control, and store maintenance. You will collaborate with external partners to drive community outreach and leverage data to make fact-based decisions that improve business performance. Whether serving as a pharmacy technician during busy periods or analyzing financial statements to create action plans, you will be the driving force behind the store's success.
Candidates for this role are expected to complete the Store Manager learning and development program (LEAP) or Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of starting. The role is designed as a developmental track, with a clear pathway to promotion into a Store Manager position, which may involve relocation.
