The Civil Designer III is a pivotal role responsible for the analysis and implementation of site and equipment constraints to develop detailed layouts for ground mount utility-scale solar farms. This position serves as a bridge between field data and engineering execution, ensuring that array layouts are precise, compliant, and optimized for construction.
Approximately 20% of this role is dedicated to supporting the engineering group's data infrastructure. You will administer and maintain AutoCAD Vault, handling user support, data management, and the enforcement of CAD standards. This involves managing user access, permissions, and project structures while coordinating standards, folder structures, and naming conventions across projects. You will also assist with Vault upgrades, configuration changes, and integration with AutoCAD Civil 3D, collaborating with engineering leadership to continuously improve CAD data management processes.
In your day-to-day, you will download and compile GIS data into AutoCAD files and analyze USGS Quad Maps, FEMA FIRM Maps, NRCS Web Soil Survey, and National Wetlands Inventory to identify site constraints. You will develop array layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D and coordinate site layouts with Civil and Electrical Engineers. The role requires implementing and manipulating digital surveys for use in site layout, including surfaces, points, and setbacks, followed by making necessary follow-up corrections to plans. You will also assist with interviewing and conducting peer reviews for the department.
Candidates for this role will be evaluated on their ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment and their readiness to learn new technologies. The interview process includes peer reviews and departmental interviews to assess technical proficiency and cultural fit.
