About the Organization

Renaissance is a mission-driven non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to transforming low-to-moderate income communities and empowering under-resourced entrepreneurs. As a US Treasury certified CDFI, SBA Intermediary Microlender, and SBA Community Advantage (7a) lender, we provide affordable small business loans, training, and counseling services across the New York Metro Area, including NYC, Long Island, the Mid-Hudson Valley, and New Jersey.

Our culture is defined by accountability, pragmatism, innovation, and collaboration. We believe in strategic thinking and treating every individual and community with respect and dignity. We embrace technology and foster a continuous learning environment where employees are encouraged to bring diverse perspectives to solve complex community challenges.

About the Role

The Business Advisor (Korean Speaker) serves as a vital bridge between Renaissance and the small business community in Flushing (NYC), Long Island, and Westchester County. This role exists to build strong, lasting relationships with entrepreneurs, generating a robust pipeline of loan applicants while providing the personalized coaching necessary for their success.

In this position, you will go beyond simple processing; you will act as a trusted advisor. Your day will involve conducting outreach to build partnerships with local business associations, providing one-on-one financial counseling on cash flow and tax reports, and guiding clients through the loan application process. You will also monitor loan performance post-closing and conduct site visits to understand client operations deeply. This is a hybrid role requiring an initial three months of onsite training, followed by flexibility to work remotely while maintaining a strong presence in the target communities.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for an interview will engage in a process designed to assess both technical fit and cultural alignment. The steps typically include:

  1. Initial Screening: A conversation to verify language proficiency (English and Korean) and relevant experience.
  2. In-Depth Interview: A discussion with the Senior Business Advisor or Team Leader focusing on case studies, client management scenarios, and community knowledge.
  3. Cultural Fit Assessment: A review of how your values align with Renaissance's commitment to empowerment and community service.
  4. Offer: Selection and onboarding details.

We encourage applicants to reflect on how their background in small business counseling or community development aligns with our mission before applying.

Equal Opportunity

Renaissance is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that individuals from all backgrounds bring to our team. We are dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
