The Department of Psychology and Speech at Oklahoma State University is committed to research, teaching, and outreach. While the department houses graduate programs in Clinical and Experimental Psychology, the Speech Communication courses play a vital role in the university curriculum, serving general education and major requirements for numerous degree programs across multiple colleges. The department currently employs five full-time faculty members dedicated to teaching Speech classes that meet university-wide needs.
We are seeking two Visiting Assistant Professors of Speech to join our team for a 9-month, non-tenure-track appointment starting in August 2026. This position is focused primarily on high-quality undergraduate instruction and supporting a large-service teaching mission that serves students across Oklahoma State University.
The successful candidates will teach four courses each semester in Speech Communication. The primary instructional need is SPCH 2713 Introduction to Speech Communication, which may be delivered through Cowboy Concurrent Online (CCO) courses. These dual-credit courses provide high school students across Oklahoma with access to college coursework while still in high school. Depending on departmental needs and qualifications, the role may also include opportunities to teach upper-division courses such as SPCH 4753 Intercultural Communication.
While preference is given to candidates who can teach in-person courses on the Stillwater campus, applicants able to teach online courses remotely will also be considered. Beyond the classroom, the role involves maintaining regular office hours, participating in routine departmental activities, and collaborating with faculty and staff to support student success.
