As a High School Physical Education Teacher, you will serve as a vital guide in helping students understand the connection between physical activity and overall well-being. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to analyzing and demonstrating skills, providing individualized instruction to adapt lessons to specific student needs, and managing student behavior to maintain a safe learning environment.
Safety is paramount; you will conduct regular checks on equipment and field areas while ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed. You will also collaborate closely with fellow physical education teachers to plan a cohesive program and work with administrators to evaluate student progress and maintain accurate records. Professional growth is encouraged through in-service activities and self-selected learning opportunities.
Candidates must possess or qualify for a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with a specific endorsement in the assigned area. The selection process prioritizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding knowledge in physical education, enthusiasm for the learning process, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
