The Utilities Engineer serves as the technical lead for the Kankakee facility, overseeing the design, engineering, safety, and quality support for a comprehensive array of utility systems. These include Clean Steam, Purified Water, WFI, HVAC, Plant Steam, Co-Generation Units, Process Chillers, Compressed Air, Nitrogen, Ammonia Chillers, Refrigeration, Alcohol Distillation, Process Gases, Natural Gas, Bulk Chemical Distribution, Solvent Gas Detection, Fire Alarm, Control Systems, Electrical Systems, Water, Cooling Towers, and Waste Treatment.
In this role, you will work closely with a cross-functional team to meet the needs of the groups you support. You will be accountable for the operational improvement of utility systems based on industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring equipment is maintained at a level that maximizes reliability and useful life. Your day-to-day involves leading engineering efforts to resolve equipment problems, managing system documentation, and executing the Utility Reliability Program. You will also ensure cGMP compliance across all utility systems, managing deviations, investigations, and change control activities while collaborating with local and global partners on asset management plans.
Specific focus areas include driving HVAC cGMP facility design and improvement projects in cleanrooms and labs, as well as providing engineering expertise for the design, installation, commissioning, validation, and operation of Clean Utility systems. You will act as the subject matter expert for utility systems, leading investigations and ensuring continuous improvement in job knowledge and proficiency related to biopharmaceutical industry best practices.
