Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ) is a Hillsdale K-12 Candidate Member school dedicated to providing a high-level academic program founded in the virtues. About the Role
As an Upper School History Teacher, you will join a team of educators committed to classical pedagogy and high standards of excellence. In this role, you will teach and mentor students while utilizing methods that foster deep learning and critical thinking. You will be expected to prepare unit and lesson plans aligned with the Hillsdale College K12 Program Guide and assign, collect, and grade work in a timely manner.
Beyond the classroom, you will play an active role in the daily operations of the school, including supervising student arrivals, passing periods, and lunchtime. You will collaborate with the Students Services team to support students with special educational plans and communicate regularly with parents to ensure a strong home-school partnership. The ideal candidate is organized, possesses a can-do attitude, and is devoted to supporting both struggling and advanced learners.
Hiring Process & Application
Candidates must be willing to undergo a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting and criminal record review, to ensure student safety. Certain findings, such as convictions for violent crimes, offenses against children, or drug-related offenses, may disqualify a candidate. Verification of qualifications, including teaching credentials and transcripts, is required.
Please note that some teachers may be required to attend training in Hillsdale, MI, for up to five days in June. ACACS and Hillsdale cover travel, lodging, and food for this conference. All faculty are also required to participate in a study of Tried and True by Daniel Copeland and The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis.
