About Goal Academy

Goal Academy is dedicated to fostering a learning environment where students develop essential skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Our mission is to cultivate a deep appreciation for literature of all types while motivating students to critically assess reading materials and derive meaningful information from a wide variety of publications.

About the Role

As a High School English/Language Arts Teacher for grades 9-12, you will serve as a key mentor in developing students' communication skills and critical thinking abilities. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, your role extends beyond instruction to creating a safe, conducive classroom environment that supports both individualized and small-group learning.

You will be responsible for translating curriculum goals into engaging learning experiences, utilizing lesson plans that challenge students and maximize instructional time. Your day-to-day work involves teaching the nuances of grammar, syntax, composition, and vocabulary, while also guiding students through creative writing and independent thinking exercises. A significant part of your role includes fostering critical analysis through group discussions on diverse reading materials, ranging from classic literature to mass media.

Beyond the classroom, you will collaborate with colleagues to prepare materials for literary publications and contests, maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance, and ensure effective communication with parents to encourage their involvement in their child's education. You will also coordinate with other professional staff members, participate in faculty meetings, and stay current with educational developments through seminars and workshops.

Hiring Process

Candidates must hold a Tennessee State Certification as an English Education Teacher with the appropriate endorsement codes (English 007 or English 7-12). A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable education discipline is required, with a Master's degree in a related area preferred. Successful prior teaching experience in English is highly valued.

Interested applicants should ensure they meet all certification and educational requirements before applying. The position is available starting August 4, 2026, with applications accepted from May 15, 2026.

Our Culture

Goal Academy values a cooperative working environment where staff establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. We are committed to maintaining standards of student behavior that achieve a functional learning atmosphere and ensuring that all educational practices comply with applicable federal and state laws. We encourage self-evaluation and professional growth as integral parts of our team's culture.
