About the Role
We are seeking a Property Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter for our Large Property team, based in San Francisco or Los Angeles. While this position is office-based, it offers a hybrid work model where you will collaborate with your manager to establish a flexible schedule that supports your needs, our customers, and our brokers. This role requires you to be visible in the marketplace, spending three days per week in the office to meet with agents and brokers.
You will utilize your marketing and analytical skills to analyze and underwrite new and renewal business under general direction. Operating within the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework, you will handle assignments of higher technical complexity while ensuring a high level of service. As a market-facing position, success in this role requires a strong sales execution mindset and deep knowledge of commercial property policies. You will act as a help point for agents, brokers, and customers, proactively seeking opportunities to support business retention and acquisition.
The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level (Specialist or Executive) based on your experience and skill set relative to the qualifications.

Zurich Insurance is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years Underwriting/Market Facing experience; High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6+ years Claims/Underwriting Support experience; Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 1+ years Underwriting/Market Facing experience; Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 4+ years Claims/Underwriting Support experience; High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years commercial underwriting/brokerage experience; and High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years Claims/Underwriting Support experience.
