About Us

Robbins Maritime, Inc. is a leading tug and barge company established in 1986 and headquartered in Norfolk, VA. We specialize in providing reliable and efficient maritime support services along the East Coast and Gulf Coast of the United States.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Captain of Towing with specific expertise in dredging operations to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will serve as the Vessel Master, holding ultimate responsibility for crew safety, vessel safety, and environmental protection. Your day-to-day duties will involve the safe operation and navigation of the vessel on planned voyages, including all dockings, undockings, departures, and the making and breaking of tows.

You will ensure that all charts are up-to-date and corrected, while maintaining a comprehensive radio communications log reflecting vessel-to-vessel communications, waypoints, and job start, stop, and standby times. A key part of your mission is maintaining a safe working environment by conducting monthly fire drills, leading new crew member safety orientations, and executing vessel security plan exercises. You will also oversee the loading of vessel food stores and ensure that all crew members are completing their required duties. Additionally, you will manage work schedules to ensure that no operator is in control of the vessel for more than 12 hours in any 24-hour period, guaranteeing adequate rest for the crew.

Work Schedule & Perks

This position operates on a 28 days on and 14 days off schedule. To support your transition between home and work, we provide paid travel to and from the vessel from the closest major airport to your residence.

How to Apply

If you are a dedicated and experienced Tugboat Captain looking to join our team, please submit your application via our website at robbinsmaritime.com. Alternatively, you may send your application and resume directly to hr@robbinsmaritime.com.
