Since 1977, Miller's Launch has been dedicated to pleasing customers on, near, or across the waters of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Over the decades, our fleet has expanded to work along all US coasts and internationally. We operate a diverse fleet of approximately 70 pieces of floating equipment, including offshore supply vessels, tugboats, crew boats, utility boats, barges, and cranes.
Our mission is to provide stellar marine support with a "can-do" attitude, serving the Tri-State Area port 24 hours a day. We pride ourselves on integrating safety into every operation, striving for zero harm to people, zero incidents, and zero spills. Our team consists of federally licensed operators, certified welders, custom fabricators, and pollution specialists ready to adapt to client needs—from moving heavy equipment and supporting offshore wind projects to emergency oil spill response and film production support.
We are seeking a qualified Tug Mate to join our team on a two-week on, two-week off rotation. This role is vital for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of our vessels. You will manage and document safety, health, and environmental policies, ensuring full compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations.
In this position, you will stand wheelhouse watch, oversee crew training and mentoring, and delegate daily tasks to maintain operational readiness. You will be responsible for executing the Towing Safety Management System (TSMS), facilitating safety meetings and drills, and maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance schedules of the tug and barge. Whether navigating rough seas or managing complex logistics, you will be the key to our vessel's success and the safety of our crew.
Interested candidates should submit their Merchant Mariners Credentials (MMC), specifically the Master 100 Ton Near Coastal license with a Mate of Towing endorsement, along with their TWIC card and relevant certifications. Candidates with knowledge of NY Harbor are highly encouraged to apply.
