We are seeking a fellowship-trained Trauma Surgeon to join our busy team at the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. This position offers a comprehensive scope of emergency general services, trauma care, and acute surgical services. You will be at the forefront of trauma care innovation in Central Iowa, helping to grow programs, refine clinical pathways, and strengthen regional access.
In this role, you will work within a collaborative team of 6 Physicians and 12 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass the full scope of the Trauma role, including operating room duties, rounding, clinic, and critical care management. You will co-manage a 16-bed CSICU with Pulmonary and Critical Care, incorporate robotics into acute care surgery, and serve as Adjunct Faculty for the General Surgery Residency. The schedule includes 15 shifts per month with a combination of days and nights, one clinic day per week, and unrestricted shared night EGS back-up call. The position utilizes the EPIC EMR system.
