As a Transportation Leader at US Foods, you will serve as the operational backbone of our delivery network, ensuring that every associate, customer, and community member remains safe while we move food across the country. This role exists to cultivate a safety-first culture within the Transportation department, where operational excellence and people development go hand in hand.
You will spend your days bridging the gap between the office and the road. While you will manage schedules and analyze data from your desk, a significant portion of your time will be spent on the road, riding in trucks with drivers to observe operations firsthand. You will be exposed to the dynamic environment of the transportation industry, including the noise and vibration of the road, to truly understand the challenges your team faces daily.
Your day-to-day involves leading by example, conducting routine safety meetings, and engaging in one-on-one coaching to help drivers and clerical associates grow. You will be the first line of defense for safety, investigating accidents, maintaining qualification files, and ensuring strict adherence to DOT regulations. By fostering an atmosphere of upward communication, you will motivate your team to achieve department goals, reduce waste, and maintain a zero-error attitude that drives customer satisfaction.
Candidates for this role will be evaluated on their ability to lead with a safety mindset and their experience in transportation or warehouse distribution. The selection process focuses on identifying individuals who can build high-performing teams and navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance.
US Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all associates. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, gender, or other protected characteristics.
