The Telephone/Switchboard Operator serves as the critical communication hub for a VA Medical Center and its affiliated clinics, operating 24/7 to support patient care, safety, and emergency response operations. This position ensures that every internal and external call is handled promptly and professionally, acting as a vital link between patients, staff, and the public.
In this role, you will manage a computerized switchboard and paging system, routing inquiries and responding to emergency calls, alarms, disaster codes, and 911 notifications. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate call logs and incident records while providing calm, professional service to distressed or difficult callers. The role requires strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and VA security policies to protect patient information.
This is an on-site position within a medical facility. The role involves rotating shifts with no permanent shift assignments, ensuring continuous coverage for the center's needs. All necessary equipment is provided by the VA.
