About the Role
FedEx Freight is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to ensure the timely, quality, and cost-effective operation of our vehicle fleet. This role is critical for maintaining tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other essential equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, and repairs. You will play a key part in keeping our logistics network moving safely and efficiently.
Day-to-Day Impact
In this position, you will perform preventative and routine maintenance while conducting basic diagnostics to identify and resolve equipment issues. Your work involves collaborating with other technicians to execute repairs and ensuring all maintenance activities are accurately documented both in writing and electronically. You will also conduct safety inspections and, as required, perform paint and body work on vehicles.
The role demands adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. You will work in a dynamic environment that may include exposure to heavy traffic, dust, diesel fumes, noise, and various chemicals. Hours may vary to meet operational needs, and you may be required to drive a service van to off-site locations.
Hiring Process
Candidates must meet specific qualification criteria, including a High School Diploma or GED, and possess either one year of vehicle maintenance experience or a relevant trade school certificate (or be within 60 days of obtaining one). Completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program with satisfactory performance is also accepted. Preferred qualifications include Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications, a Class A CDL, and prior paint and body work experience.
