About the Role
FedEx Freight is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to ensure the timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of our vehicle fleet. This role is critical for keeping tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other essential equipment running safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and executing necessary modifications and repairs.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In this position, you will perform routine maintenance and basic diagnostics to identify and resolve equipment troubles. You will collaborate with other technicians to complete repairs and ensure all work is documented accurately in both written and electronic formats. Your duties include conducting safety inspections, performing paint and body work as required, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Working Environment
This role involves working in dynamic conditions, including exposure to heavy traffic areas, dust, diesel fumes, and noise. You may be required to drive a service van to off-site locations and work in varying climate conditions. The position involves handling chemicals, oils, greases, and paints, and requires the ability to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, along with one year of vehicle maintenance experience or a relevant trade school certificate. Preferred qualifications include Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications, a Class A CDL, and prior paint and body work experience. Applicants must have the necessary tools to perform assigned tasks and basic computer skills for maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
