This position is dedicated to providing students with meaningful learning activities and experiences in their core academic subject areas. The primary mission is to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, enabling them to develop the competencies and skills necessary to function successfully in society. Teachers are expected to model the KISD core organizational beliefs and values, performing duties effectively to support high student achievement.
Educators in this role create a classroom environment conducive to learning that is appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. The position requires managing student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct while taking all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities. Teachers serve as positive role models, fostering a culture where students can thrive.
Success in this role relies on strong communication and cooperation. Teachers establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. The position involves working cooperatively with Special Education Teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) and collaborating with other staff members to determine instructional goals and methods. Additionally, teachers may plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers.
Teachers are expected to maintain a commitment to the District mission, modeling District expectations through personal leadership. This includes participating in staff development activities to improve job-related skills, attending faculty meetings, and serving on staff committees. Educators must comply with all State, District, and school regulations, as well as the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
This role is performed on-site at an assigned school or building with no remote work options. The environment involves regular exposure to noise and computer monitors, frequent districtwide travel, and work with frequent interruptions. Teachers must be prepared to maintain emotional control under stress and work during prolonged or irregular hours as needed to support student needs.
