This position serves as a vital link in the care continuum at Boston Children's Hospital, supervising day-to-day classroom operations and fostering open communication with families. The role is dedicated to creating a safe, secure, and caring environment for children under five years of age. Working closely with the teaching team, you will plan and implement age-appropriate, child-led activities that prioritize the health, welfare, and safety of every child.
Your day involves establishing a classroom environment that promotes well-being, preparing healthy meals while strictly adhering to individual health care plans and dietary restrictions, and managing daily routines such as diapering and toileting in compliance with Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) policies. You will collaborate weekly with colleagues to discuss individual child development, intentionally promoting equity and inclusion through your teaching decisions. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to observing, documenting, and assessing children's progress, ensuring that developmental milestones are met and that any red flags are identified and addressed promptly.
Beyond direct care, you will build trusting relationships with children through intentional play and engage in meaningful dialogue with parents regarding their child's daily experiences and developmental journey. This role requires a commitment to professional growth, including maintaining DEEC qualifications, completing annual professional development with a focus on special needs, and participating in mandatory background checks and staff meetings.
