About the Role
This position serves as a vital support to physicians and nursing staff within the Operating Room and Clinic at Avera Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls. The role is designed to ensure the seamless execution of surgical procedures and patient care. You will be responsible for preparing the operating room for timely surgical interventions, organizing equipment, and setting up accurately for emergency cases. During procedures, you will assist the surgeon as a first or second scrub person, maintaining a sterile field and managing surgical instruments with precision. Additionally, you will collaborate with circulating nurses to account for all surgical items and verify implants such as grafts and orthopedic hardware.
Beyond the operating room, this role involves the critical tasks of decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments using advanced equipment like steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers. You will also assist in the orientation of new staff and students, ensuring the continuity of high-quality care and safety standards.
Hiring Process
Qualified candidates with a Technical Certificate from an accredited Surgical Technician program are encouraged to apply. While certification as a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) and 1-3 years of experience are preferred, we welcome dedicated individuals ready to grow. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 may be available for eligible candidates.
