About the Role

Based at Avera Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, this position serves as a vital support to physicians and nursing staff within the Operating Room and Clinic. The role exists to ensure surgical procedures run smoothly and safely, bridging the gap between preparation and execution. You will be responsible for preparing the OR for surgeries, organizing equipment, and setting up accurately for emergency cases. During procedures, you will assist the surgeon as a first or second scrub person, maintaining a sterile field and managing surgical instruments with precision. Your day-to-day also involves verifying specimens, accounting for all instruments and sponges, and managing implants such as grafts and orthopedic hardware. Beyond the OR, you will play a key role in the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control guidelines and safety standards.
