About the Role
This position is a vital part of the surgical team at Avera St Mary's Hospital. You will be accountable for providing high-quality professional care to patients and families within the surgical suites and other clinical areas. Working under the supervision of the Surgery Leader and/or Surgeon, your role ensures the seamless execution of surgical procedures through meticulous preparation and adherence to strict standards of practice.
Your day involves assisting surgeons within your scope of competency, utilizing infection control techniques, and maintaining a sterile environment. You will rotate through the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to clean and sterilize instruments for the OR, ER, and clinics. A key part of your workflow includes updating preference cards to align with surgeon requests, verifying patient identity and operative details, and performing critical safety counts of sponges, needles, and instruments. You will also participate in evaluating new supplies and equipment, ensuring the operating room is always ready for the next procedure.
Location and Schedule
This is a regular, full-time position based at Avera St Mary's Hospital in the United States. The schedule operates on a Day Shift (Monday through Friday, 06:30 to 15:00). The role includes an on-call rotation of one weeknight per week and one weekend per month.

Requirements
