This position serves as a critical leadership hub within the FedEx Freight dock environment, dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction through the timely and damage-free movement of all shipments. The role exists to bridge operational execution with team development, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency.
In this capacity, you will lead, manage, and develop company employees with a specific focus on retention and growth. Your day-to-day involves supervising and directing employee work, including pre-shift activities, to guarantee outstanding quality, customer deliverables, and safety performance. You will actively monitor, record, and educate the team regarding unsafe acts or conditions, implementing immediate corrective actions and providing follow-up feedback to all impacted employees.
The role requires a dynamic approach to daily operations, including planning manpower needs and setting schedules to ensure freight is delivered and picked up on time. You will coordinate job assignments to ensure clear and concise direction, monitor service freight for cut-time compliance, and analyze performance data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Additionally, you will serve as a key point of contact for customers, assisting with rate quotes, claim information, and appointment setting, while ensuring all freight is correctly classified and OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) is processed properly.
This role is based in a dock environment where you will be exposed to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. The position is fast-paced and deadline-oriented, requiring frequent contact with service center personnel. Hours may vary to meet operational needs, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential.
