As a Lead, you will guide a team of employees to ensure customer satisfaction by moving all shipments on time and damage-free. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of our logistics operations, focusing on retention, growth, and the development of your team members.
You will supervise and direct employee work, including pre-shifts, with a dedicated focus on outstanding quality, customer deliverables, and safety performance. Your day will involve actively monitoring, recording, and educating employees regarding unsafe acts or conditions, correcting issues immediately using corrective action as needed. You will plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to ensure customers' freight is delivered and picked up timely and damage-free.
Beyond team management, you will serve as a key liaison for customers, assisting with rate quotes, claim information, and setting appointments. You will monitor service freight to ensure cut-time compliance and identify freight moving at incorrect weights or classifications. By analyzing performance data and gathering information for reporting, you will help identify opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies while maintaining rigorous safety standards.
This position is based in a dock environment with exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. Hours may vary due to operational needs, and the role requires frequent contact with service center personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.
