As a Lead, you will be the driving force behind ensuring customer satisfaction through the timely and damage-free movement of all shipments. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of our logistics operations, where your leadership directly impacts the reliability of our service.
In this position, you will manage, educate, and develop your team with a specific focus on retention and growth. Your day-to-day involves supervising employee work, including pre-shift activities, to ensure outstanding quality, customer deliverables, and safety performance. You will actively monitor for unsafe acts or conditions, providing immediate corrective action and follow-up feedback to all impacted employees.
You will plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to guarantee that customer freight is delivered and picked up on time. Clear communication of job assignments is essential as you coordinate with all employees. Additionally, you will monitor service freight to ensure cut-time compliance, analyze performance data for reporting, and identify opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies without compromising rigorous safety standards.
Beyond internal management, you will serve as a key point of contact for customers, assisting with rate quotes, claim information, and appointment setting. You will also identify freight moving at incorrect weights or classifications and ensure all Over, Short, and Damaged (OS&D) items are processed properly. Success in this role requires navigating a fast-paced dock environment with exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise, while maintaining frequent contact with service center personnel.
