As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Inbound Dock Supervisors. This role is pivotal for orchestrating the safe, efficient, and timely processing of freight arriving at our terminals. You will act as both a tactical manager and a motivational leader, bridging the gap between frontline dock workers, dispatch, linehaul, and terminal management. Your work ensures that inbound freight is processed accurately, dock operations are optimized, and all team members uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Day in the Life

In this role, you will direct daily inbound dock activities, including unloading trailers, inspecting shipments, and verifying documentation. You will lead a diverse team of dockworkers, forklift operators, and material handlers, providing coaching and guidance to maintain high morale. A significant portion of your day involves enforcing safety policies, conducting equipment inspections, and analyzing freight volume to prioritize assignments and allocate personnel efficiently. You will also liaise with dispatchers and drivers to facilitate seamless information flow and represent the company professionally in all interactions with drivers, vendors, and customers.

Work Schedule

Please note that this position operates on a specific shift: 2:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleAnalyze freight volume and labor resources to optimize workflow and minimize delays
  • check_circleOversee accurate completion of bills of lading, manifests, and delivery receipts
  • check_circleCoordinate with dispatchers, drivers, and customer service teams regarding inbound schedules
  • check_circleMonitor dock equipment operations and schedule preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
  • check_circleTrack and report key performance indicators related to volume, productivity, and safety
  • check_circleManage work schedules for dock personnel to ensure adequate coverage and control overtime
  • check_circleRepresent the company professionally to drivers, vendors, and customers to resolve service issues
  • check_circleSupervise daily inbound dock activities including unloading, inspecting, and staging freight
  • check_circleEnforce safety policies, DOT regulations, and OSHA standards while conducting equipment inspections

Requirements

  • verifiedMinimum 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead role within LTL, transportation, or warehouse operations

  • verifiedOSHA forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • verifiedFamiliarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), freight scanning equipment, and Microsoft Office Suite

Nice to Have

Prior dock experience. OSHA forklift certification (or willingness to obtain); first aid/CPR certification is a plus. Additional coursework or certification in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management is advantageous. Experience with cross-dock, breakbulk, or terminal operations in an LTL environment. Working knowledge of DOT and hazardous materials regulations.
