This position serves as a critical leadership hub within our dock environment, ensuring that every shipment moves on time and arrives damage-free. The role exists to bridge the gap between operational execution and customer satisfaction by guiding a team of employees through the complexities of the LTL industry.
You will lead, manage, and develop company employees with a specific focus on retention and growth. Your day involves supervising daily work, including pre-shifts, to maintain outstanding quality, meet customer deliverables, and uphold rigorous safety standards. You will actively monitor for unsafe acts or conditions, providing immediate corrective action and follow-up feedback to ensure a safe workplace.
Beyond people management, you will plan daily manpower needs and set schedules to guarantee timely freight delivery and pickup. This includes communicating clear job assignments, monitoring service freight for cut-time compliance, and analyzing performance data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. You will also serve as a direct point of contact for customers, assisting with rate quotes, claim information, and appointment setting while ensuring all freight weight and classification data is accurate.
This role is based in a dynamic dock environment where you will be exposed to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. The pace is fast and deadline-oriented, requiring frequent contact with service center personnel. Hours may vary to meet operational needs, demanding flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
