This position serves as a critical leadership hub within our dock environment, dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction by orchestrating the timely and damage-free movement of all shipments. The role exists to bridge the gap between operational execution and strategic service standards, requiring a leader who can actively manage, educate, and develop team members to foster retention and growth.
In this fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting, you will supervise daily operations, including pre-shift activities, with a sharp focus on outstanding quality, safety performance, and customer deliverables. Your day involves planning manpower needs, setting schedules, and coordinating clear job assignments to ensure freight is delivered and picked up on time. You will act as the primary point of contact for service center personnel, monitoring service freight, ensuring cut-time compliance, and assisting customers with rate quotes, claim information, and appointment setting.
Beyond daily logistics, this role demands a proactive approach to continuous improvement. You will monitor actual performance data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains while maintaining rigorous safety standards. A key part of your mission is to actively monitor, record, and educate employees regarding unsafe acts or conditions, correcting issues immediately and providing follow-up feedback. You will also ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including the proper identification and processing of OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) items and freight with incorrect weight or classification.
This role is based in a dynamic dock environment where you will be exposed to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. Hours may vary to meet operational needs, requiring flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team.
