About the Role
This position is part of the Summer Youth Maintenance Program within the Chicopee Public Schools. The role supports the district's mission to maintain safe, clean, and welcoming learning environments for students and staff. As a Summer Youth Maintenance worker, you will play a vital part in preparing school facilities for the upcoming academic year through comprehensive cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Day in the Life
Your day will involve a variety of hands-on duties designed to keep school grounds and interiors in top condition. Responsibilities include general cleaning of all school areas, assisting with summer building maintenance (such as moving furniture, cleaning floors, blinds, walls, and doors), and performing outdoor chores like sweeping sidewalks, parking areas, and trash collection. The role requires physical stamina to operate equipment such as mops, snow blowers, and shovels, as well as the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
