The Steam/Pipefitter II (Multi-craft) serves as a vital technical resource within the Facilities Department. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, this role is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of piping, valves, fittings, gaskets, and pumps. The position focuses specifically on the university's steam, chill, hydronic heat, and processed water systems. Success in this role requires a high degree of proficiency in cutting and welding various materials, as well as the ability to rig safely in diverse situations. The role also involves performing other duties as assigned to ensure the seamless operation of campus utilities.
Candidates for this position must successfully complete a motor vehicle driver's license check, a drug screening, and a physical examination. The role requires a minimum of five years of experience with steam and chill systems, along with rigging experience. While a high school diploma, trade school completion, or an accredited apprenticeship is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A welding certification is preferred.
