The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is dedicated to promoting health, safety, resilience, and opportunity for Maine people. The Department provides health and social services to approximately a third of the State's population, including children, families, older Mainers, and individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders.
The Office for Family Independence, Division of Support Enforcement & Recovery (DSER), is responsible for ensuring that all non-custodial parents contribute to the economic support of their children. The Division handles the development and implementation of rules and policies necessary to establish paternity, locate non-custodial parents, and enforce child support orders. DSER operates offices statewide, including the Biddeford location where this position is based.
The Office Associate II serves as a paraprofessional providing essential administrative support within the Child Support Office. This role is pivotal in facilitating the daily operations of the Division, ensuring that families receive the support they need through efficient case management and document processing.
In this position, you will act as a key point of contact for parents, answering questions and providing information about the child support program. Your day will involve managing time-sensitive correspondence, processing legal documents such as wage attachments and license revocations, and building cases for individuals applying for services. You will also coordinate scheduling for genetic testing and manage document imaging. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in purposeful, transformative work that directly impacts the well-being of Maine families.
This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule (8 AM - 5 PM). The role allows for partial telework with management approval and requires occasional travel to other Division locations.
