As the leader of the health care team, this Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role is designed to demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.
In this position, you will serve as a pivotal leader who delegates tasks appropriately, mentors new employees and students, and champions new ideas. You will be expected to remain flexible to changing systems while demonstrating quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. The role requires treating co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.
Your day involves developing and contributing to individualized plans of care that reflect multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education. You will monitor patient progress, revise care plans based on ongoing evaluations, and ensure optimal pain control and patient comfort. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to discussing patient findings with physicians, ensuring effective discharge planning, and identifying barriers to outpatient medical management.
You will also act as a resource and preceptor, actively participating in departmental performance improvement activities and unit-based teams. The role requires adherence to workplace safety principles, maintaining a clean and orderly environment, and practicing customer service standards that exceed member expectations. You will be responsible for accurate charting, utilizing computer systems efficiently, and ensuring patient confidentiality.
Candidates must possess a valid California Registered Nurse License, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. Additionally, applicants must have one year of recent full-time equivalent experience in Critical Care, or have successfully completed a KP Critical Care course or approved equivalent within the prior 12 months.
