About the Role
As the leader of the health care team, this Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role is designed to demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan. You will remain flexible to changing systems while ensuring quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
Day in the Life
Your day involves leading the health care team by delegating tasks appropriately, mentoring new employees and students, and facilitating unit-specific operations. You will develop and contribute to individualized plans of care that reflect multidisciplinary planning, cultural needs, and patient acuity. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to monitoring patient progress, revising care plans based on ongoing evaluations, and ensuring effective discharge planning.
You will serve as a vital resource for patients and families, actively listening to their needs, explaining medical information clearly, and addressing anxieties regarding treatment or discharge. Collaboration is key; you will discuss patient findings with physicians, participate in problem resolution across departments, and engage in performance improvement activities. Additionally, you will maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment while adhering to strict safety principles and confidentiality standards.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a current California Registered Nurse License and Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is also required. Applicants should have one year of recent full-time equivalent experience in Critical Care, or have successfully completed a Kaiser Permanente Critical Care course or approved equivalent within the last 12 months.
