The Mechanical Design Engineer Specialist plays a vital role in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems. This position applies basic engineering design and analytical theory to integrated system design, ensuring that structures and installations meet rigorous requirements while optimizing for cost.
Engineers in this role collaborate closely with senior-level design engineers and cross-functional teams including Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production. The work involves research, layout development, and the preparation of engineering drawings using world-class three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools. The role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems across different platforms.
This position requires an active presence in the field. Engineers must be able to walk to and from the flight line, work within aircraft hangar environments, and board or exit aircraft as part of daily operations. The role also requires a willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
