Key Responsibilities
- check_circleDevelop and implement special education policies and procedures in collaboration with school leadership
- check_circleSupport administration and teachers by providing training on special education programs and services
- check_circleMaintain contact with district and state leaders to ensure compliance with special education regulations
- check_circleEnsure fiscal compliance for special education programs including IDEA Part B funds and reporting
- check_circleWork with the enrollment team to develop processes for timely identification and enrollment of special needs students
- check_circleCommunicate changes in local, state, and federal special education laws to the Head of School
- check_circleCollect data for internal special education studies and work directly with parents and students
- check_circleTravel up to 20% of the time to review files, attend meetings, proctor assessments, and participate in school activities
- check_circleDevelop contracts with service providers and manage the related services database for student tracking
- check_circleCollaborate with the Testing Manager to ensure appropriate accommodations for state testing
- check_circleOversee the development and compliance of RED, MEEGS, and Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
- check_circleSupervise 5-10 full-time employees including hiring, training, performance appraisals, and conflict resolution
Requirements

- verifiedThree (3) years of special education teaching experience or equivalent

Nice to Have
Project management experience. Strong interpersonal skills with both in-person and electronic communication platforms and a customer service orientation. Ability to read data and determine what steps are needed to assist students academically and behaviorally, as a whole and on an individual basis. Ability to apply adult instructional methods in the training and development of staff. Effective oral and written communication skills. Good judgment in decision-making. Understanding of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other pertinent regulations. Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensing as required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook as well as Internet research methods and report writing techniques; Utilizes computer software associated with curriculum and special education. Master's degree. Supervisory certificate. Three (3) years of special education administration experience.
