About the Role
This position is posted to create a pool of candidates for Temporary Support Assistants (TSA). Eligible candidates will be contacted as specific positions become available at various schools within the district.
Under the direction of supervising teachers or administrators, Temporary Support Assistants play a vital role in supporting the physical, emotional, behavioral, and instructional needs of students across Preschool/PreK, elementary, and secondary grade levels. The role is designed to assist professional staff in carrying out individual student objectives, ensuring students receive comprehensive care throughout the school day.
A Day in the Life
Your day will involve routine supervision of students both within the school building and at off-site work sites or community environments. Key aspects of the role include:
- Student Support: Assisting with personal hygiene, self-help skills, toileting, feeding, and grooming as assigned.
- Instructional Assistance: Reinforcing subjects introduced by teachers in one-on-one or small group settings, implementing instructional plans, and using reinforcement techniques to keep students focused.
- Behavioral Management: Observing and managing student behavior in classrooms, lunch areas, and playgrounds according to approved procedures, while implementing specific behavior strategies.
- Data Collection: Observing student performance on instructional and behavioral goals and providing data to the supervising teacher.
- Transportation & Logistics: Assisting students with on/off bus procedures, lifting or pushing students in equipment, and monitoring entry and exit to ensure students reach the correct locations.

Important Requirements
- Attendance: Direct in-person service is required; punctual, regular, and predictable attendance is essential.
- Transportation: A valid Driver's License (Class C Non-Commercial) issued by Maryland or the state of legal residence is required, along with daily access to reliable transportation. Personal vehicles may be used for Board business.
- Training: Employees are expected to participate in professional development, including workshops on specialized care needs, seizures, and disruptive behavior as provided by the Board of Education.
