GRPS is dedicated to ensuring that all scholars are educated, self-directed, and productive members of society. The Special Education department works to provide a quality educational program specifically tailored for scholars with disabilities.
As a Special Education Aide, you will serve as an essential team member supporting scholars with disabilities. Your day involves collaborating closely with certified teachers to plan, implement, and evaluate strategies for behavioral management, academic goals, and transitions. You will actively participate in a wide range of school activities, including IEP meetings, community-based instruction, and pool supervision.
In this role, you will assist with daily living needs such as hygiene, eating, and toileting, while also supporting physical needs like lifting and transferring scholars. You will help manage the physical learning environment, ensure safety during bus loading and unloading, and maintain accurate records regarding attendance, behavior, and medical services. Your presence is vital in creating a supportive, professional, and safe atmosphere for scholars, parents, and staff.
