The Compañeros Spanish-English Dual Language Program opened in September 2020 at Harrington Elementary School and expanded to Connery Elementary School in September 2022. Lynn Public Schools is committed to developing bilingualism, biliteracy, and socio-cultural competence to transform educational outcomes for all students.
In this unique opportunity, hired teachers will participate in the planning and program design during the Spring and Summer of 2024. This role allows educators to help build the foundation of dual language education in Lynn Public Schools for years to come.
As a Grade 1 Spanish Dual Language Teacher, you will lead a classroom where students spend 70% of their day learning all content areas—including Spanish language arts, math, social studies, and science—in Spanish. You will integrate cultural traditions, customs, and history from around the Spanish-speaking world in developmentally appropriate ways while utilizing all four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The remaining 30% of the day is dedicated to English Language Development and English Language Arts, provided by the English Dual Language teacher.
You will work as a vested member of the dual language team, collaborating with grade-level partners to thoughtfully plan lessons that foster cultural understanding, social growth, and language acquisition. The district supports each team with professional development, curriculum, resources, and strategy implementation to ensure the success of all students. This role embodies the district's core values of collaborative relationships, high expectations, inclusiveness, inspiring life-long learning, and shared responsibility.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including a drug test, a National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC), and a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check. All requirements must be completed prior to the start of employment.
Lynn Public Schools does not unlawfully discriminate or tolerate discrimination in its educational and employment policies, programs, and activities. The district is committed to inclusivity regardless of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, color, national origin, creed, religion, ethnicity, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. This includes a specific commitment to protecting traits historically associated with race, such as hair texture and protective hairstyles.
