About the Team
VetPride Services is dedicated to supporting the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC, by providing a complimentary shuttle service for VA employees. The team prioritizes the recruitment and hiring of Veterans and military personnel, ensuring a supportive environment that values service and dedication.
About the Role
As a Shuttle Driver, you will be the first point of contact for VA employees, greeting them in a professional manner as they arrive or depart. Your primary mission is to safely transport staff between parking areas and designated stops while ensuring a smooth and reliable transportation schedule. This role requires you to assist customers with mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and walkers, and maintain the shuttle in excellent condition through regular cleaning and refueling. You will work as part of a collaborative team to uphold the high standards of the VA, adhering strictly to all safety protocols and regulations.
Compensation & Benefits
In addition to an hourly rate of $17.75, this position includes a Health & Welfare Fringe Benefit of $5.09 paid directly to you in cash (not to exceed 40 hours per week), bringing your total hourly wage to $22.84. The role also offers Paid Time Off, Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, access to a 401k, and retention bonuses. A $500 sign-on bonus is currently available for qualified candidates.
Hiring Process
Candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid South Carolina Commercial Driver's License with a P endorsement, along with a current DOT Medical Certificate. The selection process includes a pre-employment criminal background check, DMV check, and drug screen. Applicants must demonstrate strong customer service skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently within established guidelines.
