Under the supervision of leadership, this position serves as a vital support pillar for the vehicle fleet maintenance team. The primary mission is to assist in delivering timely, high-quality, and cost-effective maintenance for a diverse fleet including tractors, trailers, and specialized equipment. By ensuring that inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs are executed correctly and documented thoroughly, the role directly contributes to maintaining a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles.
The day-to-day environment is collaborative and dynamic. You will work alongside other technicians to perform preventative maintenance and repairs, while also supporting broader shop operations through job setup, equipment cleaning, and general maintenance. A key aspect of the role involves managing documentation, where you will prepare both electronic and manual records and reports to track work performed. The position requires active participation in safety inspections and the physical handling of vehicle components, including moving parts to and from job sites and installing or removing them as directed.
Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is essential. You will utilize a variety of power and hand tools to accomplish tasks, following the guidance and education provided by leadership. The role demands adaptability, as hours may vary to meet operational needs, and you may be required to drive a service van to off-site locations to perform work.
This role takes place in an active shop environment with exposure to heavy traffic areas, considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise. You will encounter various chemicals, oils, greases, paints, and other irritants. The physical nature of the job includes the ability to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds using appropriate equipment or assistance, as well as the ability to safely enter and exit truck driver compartments using standard foot and handholds. The position may also involve exposure to varying climate conditions depending on the geographic area.
