About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. Under direct supervision, you assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policies. Your work is essential to delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, where you engage patients, resolve issues, and build strong relationships with our most valuable customers.

Day in the Life

Your day involves a blend of clinical support and operational excellence. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. This includes retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine accuracy, and checking for possible interactions. You will also handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, process manual claims for third-party programs, and assist with inventory management activities such as ordering and storing shipments.

Beyond technical duties, you are a key ambassador for our service culture. You will model best practices by greeting customers, offering proactive help, and identifying needs to ensure satisfaction. If you hold PTCB certification, you may also coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations. Additionally, you may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and help maintain the pharmacy's cleanliness and organization.

Hiring Process & Application

To join our team, candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours. We are committed to continuous learning; successful candidates will earn and maintain PTCB certification (or ExCPT in specific regions) and complete required training programs and continuing education credits. We also require willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
