About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. Under direct supervision, you assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, where you engage patients, resolve issues, and build strong relationships with our most valuable customers.
Day in the Life
Your day involves a blend of clinical support and operational excellence. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. This includes retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine accuracy, and checking for possible interactions. You will also handle clerical duties such as processing manual claims for third-party programs and managing inventory activities like ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments.
Customer interaction is central to your role. You will greet patients, offer assistance with products and services, and model best practices for the team, including proactive help and courtesy. You may also assist with clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and support the pharmacy manager in maintaining good relationships with the local medical community. Additionally, you are responsible for maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy environment and handling cash registers with accuracy.
Hiring Process & Application
To be considered for this role, candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours. The position requires obtaining active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (with exceptions for specific locations or collective bargaining agreements). PTCB or ExCPT certification is required (except in Puerto Rico), and candidates must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

Requirements

Nice to Have
Prior work experience with Walgreens. Good math skills (counting, measuring and weighing medications). Basic level PC skills (e.g., starting/shutting down computers, using a mouse, switching between programs, saving files, printing documents, accessing online information). Knowledge of store inventory control.
