About the Role
As a Staff Security Officer, you will do more than just patrol the physical campus; you will play a vital part in Bethel's mission. Reporting to the Manager of Security Operations, you will carry out the day-to-day responsibilities of maintaining a secure campus presence. Your role involves supporting university community members, responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls, and utilizing quick decision-making skills to help campus partners create a safe environment.
This is a full-time, 12-month position working the 3rd shift (12am-8am). Because safety is a 24/7 priority, flexibility in working hours is required, including weekends and some holidays.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleProactively patrol university campuses to maintain a visible safety presence
- check_circleEnforce university policies to ensure the overall safety of the campus community
- check_circleRespond to and handle emergency and non-emergency calls including medical incidents and accidents
- check_circleConduct security interviews on persons displaying suspicious behavior
- check_circleMaintain clear radio traffic and write detailed electronic incident reports
- check_circleConduct periodic safety and fire inspections as assigned by leadership
- check_circleIssue parking violation tickets and provide active traffic direction during events
- check_circleSet up and tear down safety signs, cones, and barricades for campus events
- check_circleAssist students, faculty, and visitors with safety concerns, directions, and inquiries
Requirements
