Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Labor/Delivery Scrub Tech provides essential care for women and newborns. This position serves as a bridge between patient care and surgical support, utilizing sterile techniques to prepare surgical suites for C-sections and tubal ligations, while also preparing delivery tables for vaginal births. The role functions as an operating room technician, assisting physicians with surgical procedures and ensuring the environment is safe and ready for every delivery.
This is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position designed for candidates eager to learn the specialized skills of a Scrub Tech. Successful candidates will complete their training within 90 days of hire. For the growth of both the unit and the individual, we prefer candidates willing to make a one-year commitment upon successful completion of their training.
You will work alongside Patient Care Techs and Health Unit Coordinators, assisting with scrubbing for C-sections and supporting the labor and delivery team. Your day involves ensuring patient rooms are fully equipped and stocked for the labor and delivery process. You will assist patients with personal care needs, including bed baths, showering, and ambulation, while obtaining and documenting vital signs for both patients and newborns before, during, and after delivery.
During surgical procedures, you will prepare the room for C-sections by setting up instruments, passing tools, and completing all instrument, sponge, and sharp counts with the RN to ensure sterility is maintained throughout the operation. You will also support vaginal deliveries by draping patients and preparing necessary equipment. Beyond clinical duties, you may perform assigned clerical tasks and collaborate with the team to understand and execute the plan of care.
