About the Role

The Middle School Teacher serves as a vital professional educator within the school division, dedicated to establishing a flexible instructional program and class environment that fosters learning. This role focuses on teaching a broad range of subjects or specialized subject matter while motivating students to achieve their maximum potential. The position operates under the regular supervision of the School Principal and requires the ability to translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences that integrate subject area content with technology.

Teachers in this role are expected to adapt materials and methods to create relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students. The position involves facilitating critical analysis through group discussions, encouraging independent thought, and helping students develop and express original ideas. Beyond academics, the teacher plays a key role in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior, identifying student needs, and participating in child study, Individual Education Plan (IEP), and Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) meetings.

Working Conditions

This position involves light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. The role necessitates a variety of physical activities, including stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Effective vocal communication and normal hearing levels are required for exchanging ideas, while visual acuity is essential for preparing data and observing surroundings. The work environment includes both inside and outside conditions. Please note that some teaching specialties, such as music, art, or physical education, may require additional hearing, vision, physical coordination, or exertion.
