Lynn is a vibrant, seaside urban community located just north of Boston, known for its contemporary public art, historic architecture, and thriving cultural district. Reflecting the city's international character, Lynn Public Schools serves approximately 17,000 students across 29 diverse school sites. Our district is a linguistically and culturally rich community where 60% of students speak two or more languages.

Our vision is to fulfill the intellectual, physical, and social-emotional potential of all students. We work together so our students learn to thrive, advance, and impact the greater community and the world. LPS is committed to core values of inclusiveness, shared responsibility, collaborative relationships, high expectations, and inspiring life-long learning. We strive to strengthen an environment that honors and celebrates diversity and responds effectively to the social-emotional experiences of every student and family.

About the Role

Breed Middle School is seeking a dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join our community. This role is designed to foster a motivating, stimulating, and safe learning environment where students from a wide range of socio-economic levels and cultural backgrounds can thrive.

In this position, you will plan and implement units of instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS) Framework. You will utilize data to direct instruction, provide regular feedback on student progress, and design differentiated learning experiences to meet the needs of all students, including those in Special Education and English Learner Education. The role requires a deep understanding of institutional and structural racism and their impact on underserved communities, ensuring an inclusive classroom culture. You will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and assessment design while maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, and the community.

Hiring Process & Application

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical (including a drug test), a National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC), and a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check. All requirements must be completed prior to the start of employment.

Equal Opportunity & Non-Discrimination

Lynn Public Schools is committed to a non-discrimination policy. We do not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, color, national origin, creed, religion, ethnicity, ancestry, age, disability, or any other consideration made unlawful by federal, state, or local laws.
